A WEEK AT LOXTON

Moving along the Murray after being at Waikerie (aboriginal for butterfly) for 2 nights, we had driven to surrounding towns seeking to see some of the 13 locks that control the flow of water on the Murray and caught up on the history of some of the many paddle steamers which assisted the towns surrounding.
In due course we moved on to Loxton where we took a grassy almost riverfront site for 7 nights, it had good television coverage, we were starting to get fed up with poor reception.
On the first evening, it was pretty hot, sitting out in our annexe eating dinner, there were kangaroos in the near distance, lots of ducks and many birds flying around, calling out, the most exciting to me were the 4 kookaburras who came down to see if we had anything for them. We threw them some bread and I vowed to buy some meat to feed to them.
The next day we went to the visitor centre and got ideas of where to travel over the next week, they had a fridge magnet of a rather magnificent kookaburra, I couldn't resist !
